An Evening of Art at School

The school does an evening of art every year where all the students get to show off their artwork and the classes show off some sort of performing art together.  This year, Amara made an alphabet book with lots of different forms of art.  We really have an awesome art program at our school.
Amara's class performed one of their "indoor recess" wiggle songs called "Jack Jump!" based on the nursery rhyme "Jack Be Nimble."  I recorded it, but I'm a terrible camerawoman, so sorry for the shakiness!

Here's some of the art that the girls did that was lining the halls of the school.

Steve's class (Lily's class) performed capoeira for their performing art.  I got the entire performance recorded which ended up being about 10 minutes.  Unfortunately it takes awhile to upload/download, but if you're patient you can watch it below in the smilebox presentation.

Lily's art teacher selected her and a few other students from the school to participate in the "Federal Duck Stamp" art contest.  She won a blue ribbon for participating and certificate of appreciation.  Did you even know that such a contest existed?  Yes, it's a Federal contest.  Perplexed?  Me too.

A few weeks later, 2nd grade performed for their parents a half-hour program filled with songs and narration about the rock cycle.  It turned out really well.  Lily got to hold the "Metamorphic" sign.
See her on the top row?
I'm so proud :)

Hula Girls

It's a short clip, but my cousin, Evelyn, captured my girls and their cousin, Malia, doing the hula at my grandparents 60th anniversary party.  They make the most beautiful hula girls!

A Few More Spring Break Moments

We got raspberries and a peach tree from Bev's.

We played and had pizza at Micah's house.

Don't worry.  He's not hurt.  His daddy just walked away.

Joe is holding our cousin Will's baby, Liam.

Poor Maizie got an ouchy under her eye, but she was still happy to play.

Brooklyn is still so new to all this.

I don't remember why Micah is pointing.

I love how she is already hugging her daddy back!
Liam and Rexton like eachother already!

Grandma and Grandpa's 60th Wedding Anniversary (Spring Break, part 5)

60 Years of Marriage

Grandma and Grandpa Lauret came to Utah to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.  All their children and most of their grand children and great-grandchildren were in attendance at their luau-style celebration.  It was a memorable night filled with delicious Hawaiian food, catching up with loved ones, and a short program where I got to interview my grandparents.

Food at Lauret gatherings is second to none.  This spread did not disappoint.  Kalbi beef, grilled teriyaki chicken, kalua pig, rice, mac salad, potato salad, fruit salad, caesar green salad, krab rangoons, and eggrolls.  And sparkling cider to toast the happy couple :)  YUMMY!

It is a beautiful thing to be surrounded by family, and grandma and grandpa certainly were.  I tried to get a picture of everyone that was there.  Hopefully I didn't leave anyone out.  And for your viewing pleasure, I present to you photos of the "FAM"...

Get him Micah!  Funny how similar some of our children are to ourselves.  Max and Micah, case in point.
Jake and Kelli brought newborn Brooklyn to visit and we all wanted to hold her! :)

Amara didn't feel like smiling I guess.
Cutting the cake.
I love you Grandma and Grandpa!  Here's to 60 more!  I have such a great family!
