When we walked in they yelled, "Aloha!" The whole house was decorated in like 100 leis and other fun luau themed paraphernalia, some even homemade.
Grandma was so surprised and she loved it all!
Possibly my favorite thing ever was the homemade grass skirts that Amara and Bridger were wearing! |
For lunch we had Fried Rice Musubi! It doubled as our Marco Polo cooking challenge issued by JJ- Challenge: Fried Rice! It was delicious!
FIRE! I love how our chef lit the whole table up! |
Debby's Derby Party
A fun tradition Grandma Debby wanted to start was a Derby Party. We all came dressed up with a derby hat (ours were homemade), played games, ate a lovely derby lunch, and watched the Kentucky Derby! Debby had fun prizes and we all got to participate in a fashion show to display our hats to the group. It was lots of fun. I was glad we could go, and my mom too!
We brought an assortment of tea sandwiches.
KENTUCKY HOT BROWNS SLIDERS! |
My dad made a very tasty version of a mint julep.
After we all showed off our derby hats, my dad got up and showed off his fashionable tie he chose just for this occasion. Dad was the only male in this house of women. He's' the BEST!
It was such a party-packed couple days I feel blessed to have been able to take part in. Here's looking forward to next year!
