Christensen Reunion Day 4- Nature's Beauty and A Talented Bunch

It was an overcast day, and we headed into the mountains to explore the nearby Mammoth Cave.  The cave was created by an ancient lava tube and it is an incredible spot to explore.  Amara liked this cave.  She was the perfect height and she didn't have to duck down the whole time as the cave gradually shrinks.  Grandma gave everyone mini flashlights and with them, many were able to see the bats in the cave.  I let Steve and Amara enjoy the depths of the cave as I only ventured in the distance I felt I could escape safely if I needed to.  Escape from what you might ask?  Well, I have never been the same since watching the Planet Earth DVDs and seeing the creepiest spiders that have only been found living in caves.  Spiders freak me out and I don't want to meet a cave spider.  That and as the cave gets smaller, my likelyhood of exasperating my POTS increases.  But what I did see of the cave was pretty cool.  Amara went through twice.  Lily still had her hurt foot, but with the help of her Uncle Steve A., she even got to go down in the cave.  He piggy backed her and crawled with her on his back, bless that man!  There is a mansion awaiting him in heaven!

I think he saw a cave spider.  Just kidding.

The exit of the cave is this narrow opening that you have to scoot on your belly.  I'm glad I didn't have to do that.

The results of caving...

The scenery was pretty in those mountains.  After the cave, we drove to a lake, but it was too cold and windy to enjoy the water, so we just picnicked at a nicely developed spot where there were wildflowers everywhere.

When we got home, it was time for more ZIPLINE!

There goes Lily with her hurt foot.

Steve and Bev were the "catchers" so the little ones didn't smack into the tree.

And Steve got to carry Lily back up the hill.
That evening we enjoyed a talent show put on by the family members.  I didn't get very many pictures before my camera died, but here's what I did get...
Hanging out before the show

Bekah practicing in the background, Grandpa awaiting the show.

More hanging out.

Lily, Amara, and I sang "A Place In His Arms," the song we sang with the ward choir and Lily and Amara had a solo.

Time played his drumming pad while we watched him on the screen in the background perform with his drumline.

Eva playing and singing for us
Another fun day with the fam!

Wow! I can't believe someone carried Lily through the cave! There is a mansion in heaven for him for sure! I don't think I would have been brave enough to go in at all! Kudos to your girls. :) Your family reunion looks like tons of fun!

ahaha @ There is a mansion in heaven for him. If he keeps doing stuff like that, he will be getting to that mansion a lot sooner! At least I would. ahaha! But. Carrying. Lily. Is. Worth. It. :) That narrow exit just about made my heart shudder at the looks of it but I think I could fit through...if I left my buttOM behind in the cave.
