Steve's 43rd Birthday

When Steve came home from school, we had a party waiting for him!  We had gone to the library and checked out 6 dvds that looked like movies he might enjoy.  We also bought a bunch of his favorite snacks like plain lays chips, popcorn, lindt truffles, beef jerky, plus some other snacks that looked tasty and fun, like pocky sticks and knoppers.
Steve's birthday cake wasn't a cake at all, it was his favorite- lunch lady peanut butter bars with chocolate frosting! In true Steve fashion, we lit a single candle, and he waved it out (so as not to spew a bunch of spit-particles all over the dessert in the act of blowing).

Good work, Steve!

We also picked up a few gifts to accompany the snacks and movies- the garage door opener was a big hit!  It works great and he's used it every day since he got it.  Some of the gifts we got were more of a gag gift, like the hands-free smartphone holder.

 Steve as a 43-Year-Old

He's pretty much always dressed up.  His daily attire is pants, long-sleeved collared shirts, and a tie.  He skips the tie on Saturday and in the summer.  He doesn't own a lot of clothes, by choice.  He likes to keep things simple and nice.  He literally has enough clothes for a week.  He went minimalist with his wardrobe a year or two ago when Marie Kondo inspired him.  No, he doesn't have any grubby clothes for yard work or house projects, or dirty work.

He is in his 14th year teaching elementary school, and he is good at what he does.  It does take a lot out of him emotionally and physically each day, some days more than others.  He is spent by the time he gets home, so we often have quiet evenings.  Dinner is around 4pm since Steve doesn't eat all day until he gets home.  It's a habit from the intermittent fasting he's been doing intermittently for a few years now.

Steve is a great poet and a good writer and one day he hopes to be published, although his focus is on his current job as a school teacher for now.  On the side, he does photography jobs with me, all by word of mouth, and he enjoys being a photographer as a hobby also.

He is a smart man who likes to do his research, particularly in purchasing new tech.

He likes to disc golf from time to time, and he's getting to be pretty good at it.

If you were to sit down and play a board game with him, he's likely to choose Pandemic or Farkle or even chess.

He still loves pizza (pepperoni and pineapple), and desserts of all kinds, especially ice cream.

He is a loving father, a voracious reader, and a supportive husband.

We are very blessed to have Steve in our lives!
