Dates for April, May, and June

April Date

It was a Friday and Steve's turn to plan.  He took me to High Country Pizza. We both got personal pizzas. Mine was pineapple and chicken.  Steve was ham and pineapple (surprise! he doesn't usually go for ham on a pizza).  Then we also got Reeses peanut butter cookies... OH!   SO!  GOOD!  Best I've ever had.  In fact, we had to go back and buy a second one because they were too good.

May - Our 23rd Anniversary!

We took a 3 day getaway to Silt, Colorado where we stayed at Iceberg Farms Airbnb, visited Glenwood Springs Adventure Park, and hiked Rifle Falls.

We found a local place called Fire Mountain Pizza.  It was great!  The food was well-made and the coconut cream pie slice I took home was GIANT and so yummy! So fluffy and creamy and not too rich or sweet. Delightful. We resolved that we must go back, which we did the next day.

AirBNB

It was a little over 3 hours drive to Silt.  We loved the Airbnb.  The perfect place of comfort, serenity, and beauty! It also was funny to find little nudges of bigfoot in their decor.

There were some wonderful touches of hospitality...
~ yummy snacks (we love snacking!)
~ personalized artwork on the fridge
~ in the fridge was water bottles and pellegrino, a variety of snackable cheeses, and a bowl of fruit!
~ hot drink options like an assortment of teas, coffee, and hot cocoa.

The bed was comfortable and the space was cozy with plenty of room and everything you'd need.  But what really sold me on this place was the views.  Every window overlooked picturesque fields, gardens, and mountains. It felt so special.

Glenwood Springs - Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

I had heard of this place from several friends- the theme park on the mountain top in Colorado. You take a gondola to get up there. SOLD.  Sounds fun, right? Well, the rides weren't the biggest draw for me, seeing as I don't feel well when I ride them.  I wanted to see the caves! Though I will say I enjoyed the alpine coaster and a few of the tamer rides.  Steve rode everything that looked terrifying by himself and I filmed him.  The awesome thing was that this was the opening weekend and the weather was perfect and there were no crowds.  Lines were super short, many rides were just walk-on.  It was so great!  And the caves were cool too!

The view from atop the mountain

Lunch was mediocre food with a 5 star view!  Plus we got a chess table so that's awesome!

This is a terrible picture of it, but Steve is sitting in that swing ride which swings you out over the cliff!

Marvelous views from on top.

There were these really cool wood-guy sculptures throughout the park.

Tame ride for me- a little ferris wheel.

Gondola was awesome.  I think I like them better than Steve.  He's concerned about the safety of something so big, heavy and bulky hanging precariously onto a measley cord.  Valid.

Mountain Pizza AGAIN!

We could've chosen another place for a new experience, but there was more to experience at this pizza place that we just had to go back.  Particularly their dessert bar.  Everything was tantalizing and there were so many options that called to us.  We walked out with 4 desserts! It's been over a month and Steve just mentioned to me the other day how that pecan bar was the best thing he's ever tasted.
Peanut Butter pie, Cream Puff, Peanut butter chocolate cake, Pecan Pie bar

We enjoyed our desserts over the next couple days.

Rifle Falls State Park

After checking out of our AirBnb, we went to church in Rifle and then took a little drive to the Rifle Falls State Park.  It is the smallest state park in Colorado and is super beautiful!  I loved hiking around there with Steve and exploring the scenery, the natural caves, and the falls! We had a lunch there before our drive home.  Weather was perfect.

Happy Anniversary to us! This pic was taken on a platform that is built out over the cliff.  It's a little scary, but a cool view of the falls.

June Date- FaceTime

This was literally the day after we got home from our family trip to Lily's mission land.  Tired? Yes. And I needed to pack and prepare food for a 3 day campout beginning the next day.  And actually Steve never made it home.  We dropped him off at his parents/sister's house so he could help with the care of his dad.  So, our date was a Facetime call.
